Native E-Signatures & Certified PDFs for Rental Agreements
Right now, we rely on a simple checkbox for guests to accept terms. While technically binding, the evidence of acceptance when fighting chargebacks can use improvement.We should build a native, lightweight e-signature flow into the checkout. Instead of just a checkbox, we present an HTML canvas pad for the guest to draw their "wet" signature.Once signed, the system automatically generate a PDF containing the full agreement text, the visual signature, and a metadata footer (Timestamp, IP address, User Agent).This PDF is stored and made available to the Host immediately. It's also emailed to the guest a copy of the signed agreement.This gives us a certified, standalone document that holds up much better in dispute resolutions. It reduces financial risk for our hosts and removes the friction (and cost) of integrating external e-sign vendors.
